Squier Strat EMG Upgrade

Well, I thought about this mod for awhile now and I finally decided to do something about it. I went to the local shop and he had an EMG-SA for 279.99 installed. I asked what would be the price for just the package and he said 200.00. I asked questions about the installation and he was very informative. I left without buying and just to make sure it's what I wanted to do.

I had another project at home to do first (4yr olds new bike), so I thought it was a good time for me to contemplate the Squier project. After deliberation and pulling the pickguard off to check what lay ahead, I decided to go ahead and do it.

It was quite simple really. It took about 3 hours for the complete change. I went ahead and used a scotch brite pad to smooth over the frets and the side of the neck. I also cleaned up the nut and bridge saddles and used a #2 pencil to add some graphite.

At some point, I'll probably get the frets professionally done and also make a modification to the body for the battery like Chris did. Right now, the battery sits below the pots wrapped in foam that was in the EMG box. You can tell how bad the frets were in the picture. It's a little blurry but the shiny ones on the left have been worked on and the ones on the right have not.

All in all it was about 230.00 for the EMG, 30w soldering iron, solder, and battery.
